Play with the Champions – the 12th BCC Open 2012
The Bangkok Chess Club has the honour of inviting all Chess Players to participate in the 12th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2012 from 13–19 April, 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Dusit Thani has become a major sponsor and the tournament will be held Bangkok in the elegant 5 star hotel. With the tournament growing each year, we are expecting up to 300 players from 50 countries – again the biggest and strongest ever held in Thailand.
On the move again!
STOP PRESS
July 25: More information for Roadhouse can be found at their website: http://www.roadhousebarbecue.com/
July 23: Beginning Tuesday 26th we will be at the Roadhouse BBQ every Tuesday, on the corner of Surawong Road and Rama IV. Nearest BTS is Sala Daeng – walk through Thaniya Plaza and turn right past Jim Thompson shop. Nearest MRT is Silom – walk along Rama IV past the McDonalds to Surawong Road
July 12: The Bull’s Head has closed early, so there is no chess club tonight (July 12th) or next week (July 19th). See you on Fridays at the Queen Victoria, while we check out various possibilities to replace the BH.
Only weeks after moving the Friday Club, we have to move our Tuesday Club too! The Bull’s Head is having to close because their Landlords have not renewed the lease – this coming Tuesday will be the last in Soi 33/1. The end of an era, as I was at their opening party in October 1994.
We are in discussions about a new venue already – watch this space for more news.
Bangkok Chess Club is moving
Woodstock has been a great place for our friday night chess club, but the time has come to move on. Starting July 1st, we will be meeting in new great location at the 2nd floor of Queen Victoria Pub & Restaurant in Sukhumvit Soi 23, walking distance from both the Skytrain BTS Asoke station, and the Underground MRT Sukhumvit station. If you come by car, you can park roadside on Sukhumvit 23 after 7pm.
Check out the Queen Victoria website here.

Will Thailand send a team to the KL Open this year? Peter Long has raised plenty of sponsorship, so he should have a great turnout.
