Seasons greetings. Friday meetings at Woodstock fall on the 24th and the 31st, so there will be no formal chess club – however you might still get a game if you show up. Bull’s Head should be unaffected.

Woodstock’s rooftop will be open on December 31, with fireworks, BBQ Pizza and more entertainment.
The Bangkok Chess Club Championship has started. There are two groups, imaginatively entitled A and B, and games can be played by arrangement with your opponent at either the Bull’s Head or Woodstock. More details and crosstables here
The 2007 World Under-20 Girls Champion, WGM Vera Nebolsina of Russia (rated 2377), has registered to play at the 2011 Thailand Open.
She is definitely my tip to be our first lady champion!
The 11th BCC Thailand Open 2011 will be held from 11 to 17 April at the outstanding Dusit Thani Pattaya. With long experience hosting international events such as the Thailand Open Women’s Tennis Championship, and a pillarless floor space of up to 2,400 square metres, The Dusit Thani has both the facilities and the ability to make this year’s Thailand Open Chess Championship the best ever.
Last year’s Champion GM Sune Berg Hansen and runner-up GM Nigel Short have already signed up to give the event a flying start.

All are invited to join the Assumption Team Chess Championship 2010 to be held at the Shinawatra University, Lard Lum Khaew, Pathum Thani, during 15th-18th October 2010 [See map attached]. Free lodgings (3 beds per 1 room) are provided for the entire 25 min. + 10 sec. rapid-game tournament of 3/4-member/team. No entry fee. Prizes are beautiful trophy + medal for the winner and medals for the first and the second runner-ups.
