Asean+ Age-Group Chess Championships 2014 go to Macau

Ignatius Leong has announced that the 15th ASEAN+ Age-Group Chess Championships will take place in Macau, a Special Administrative Regions of the People’s Republic of China, during June 2014 (3rd-14th). Mr Leong was so impressed with Thailand’s work on the 2013 tournament that he has invited the entire team to Macau to help run next year’s tournament.

Thailand Expat Chess Challenge 2013

Thailand Expat Chess Challenge 2013 is the tournament held alongside the Thailand National Chess Championship 2013. The tournament is open only to players without Thai nationality who reside in Thailand.

1. Schedule

2. Tournament System and Time Control

2.1 This Tournament is a 7-round Swiss System. Pairings shall be done by suing the Swiss Manager Program.

2.2 Each player has 90 minutes to complete the game with 30 seconds increment for each move, starting from move one.

2.3 Any player who fails to be present within 60 minutes after the game has started shall considered lost by default in that round, and if he/she is declared lost by time default for two rounds, he/she shall not be paired to play in the rest rounds of the tournament.

2.4 Any player who misses any round of play will not be paired in the following rounds, and may be considered to have withdrawn from the tournament, unless he/she notifies the Chief Arbiter well in advance.

2.5 A player must record his/her moves and of his opponent no matter how much time he has left on the clock and hand over the score sheets to the Arbiters at the end of each round. In the case of a draw, players with White shall deliver the score sheets to the Arbiters.

2.6 FIDE Law of Chess shall apply. Results will be sent to FIDE for rating calculations. Only players with FIDE ID No. can enter to play in this tournament. If any player has no FIDE ID No. just yet, please contact your Federation to apply for FIDE ID.

2.7 Players are not allowed to bring mobile phones or other electronics devices into the playing area. Failure to comply with this rule shall result in losing the game.

2.8 Arbiter’s decisions are final.

2.9 The Organizer shall have the rights to change the regulations without notifying the players.

2.10 The Organizer reserves the right to adjust the prize money and other prizes as well as other tournament regulations according to the circumstances and suitability.

3. Trophies
3.1 Trophies shall be awarded for the three top positions. If players are tied for position(s), then the tie-break according to Article 4 shall be used.

4.1 Direct Encounter.
4.2 Buchholz.
4.3 Median Buchholz 1.
4.4 Median Buchholz 2.
4.5 Buchholz Out 1.
4.6 Buchholz Out 2.
4.7 Sonneborn-Berger.
4.8 Blitz play-off.

5. Registration and Entry Fees
Players who wish to participate in the tournament can complete the registration form by 30th October 2013. Late registrations shall only be allowed to play from round 2 onwards.

There is no entry fee.

6. Official Venue
Lotus Room, 2nd Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Khlong Toei, Bangkok.

7. Arbiters
Chief Arbiter IA Panupand Vijjuprabha, Deputy Chief Arbiter NA Patcharawee Bhramawong.

Thailand National Championships 2013

Registration is now open for the Thailand National Championships 2013, to be held in the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, 1-2-3 and 9-10 November 2013. The tournament is FIDE rated 9-round Swiss. Click here to register (Thai nationals only). The tournament is organised by the Thailand Chess Association, and sponsored by drinks manufacturer ThaiBev.

In addition to the National Championships, there is an Expat Challenge tournament for foreigners resident in Thailand, running on 2-3 and 9-10 November, 7-rounds Swiss, also FIDE rated. Click here to register.

Harrow Inter-School Chess Tournament 2013 is organised in six age-groups

 

Harrow School is organising another of their fine age-group rapid chess tournaments (U8/10/12/14/16/19), taking place at Harrow International School Assembly Hall on 16th November.

Registration

Individual players who register online and pay before 11th November, 2013 will be paired the day before the tournament and will take part in the 1st round of the competition. They will also be given a voucher (coupon) and lunch will be reserved.

Players who register on the day of the tournament (i.e. in the morning) will pay a registration fee of 1000 baht. They will be paired on the day and will take part from the 2nd round onwards. Please note that those who register on the day will not be given a lunch voucher (coupon) and lunch will not be reserved.

14th ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championships 2013

Organised by the Thailand Chess Association, sponsored by Chang Water, the 14th ASEAN Age-Group Chess Championships takes place in the beautiful city of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, from 5–14 June, 2013 at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel.
There are tournaments in Standard, Rapid and Blitz chess, all eligible for FIDE ratings. In addition, titles will be awarded as in the Olympiads, with IM and WIM titles possible in the under 20’s group. More information and registration details at the AACC website
